Vanishing Vistas and Restoration
The Blue Ridge Parkway was originally constructed with over 900 planned scenic views, each one carefully scoped out to enhance visitors’ experiences. Over the last several decades the 469 mile road has evolved as vegetation has grown in, leading some of the views to be obscured. Parkway staff and partners are facilitating a management program that is both environmentally sensitive, and mindful of the original intent of the Park.
