Skiing and Winter Sports
Communities throughout the Blue Ridge Parkway region are home to ski slopes, tubing runs, rinks, and resorts where you can celebrate cold weather with winter fun! Wintergreen Resort near the Parkway’s northern entrance offers first-class runs, a terrain park, and tubing. North Carolina is home to classic ski resorts like Beech and Sugar Mountain – which welcome new and returning enthusiasts each season. Snowfall also brings locals to the Moses Cone Park (Milepost 294) to enjoy cross-country skiing on the site’s carriage paths. Visitors heading into the Tennessee section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park can hit the slopes at the state’s only ski resort – Ober Gatlinburg. Be sure to check the Real-Time Road Closure Map for Parkway conditions during inclement weather.
