Museums and Historic Sites
The cultures that comprise the patchwork quilt of mountain heritage are illuminated by over 100 museums and historic sites. The Mountain Heritage Center in Cullowhee showcases the history of Scottish immigrants. The Rural Life Museum at Mars Hill University will give you a glimpse of what life was like in and around the Blue Ridge Mountains hundreds of years ago. A more modern story can be found at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial in Asheville. Find a list of museums on the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area website.
